Baked beans are the source of endless fascination for cooks from all over. We have so many different varieties to choose from! This one, featuring cranberry sauce to give it a delightful cranberry flavor looks to be a worthwhile addition to our collection.

Cranberry Baked Beans

  • 1 16-ounce can cranberry sauce, jellied
  • 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 2 31-ounce cans pork and beans, undrained (Whew! That's a lot of beans! It's the equivalent of 4 normal--15 to 16 ounce--cans.)
  • 1 Tablespoon mustard, prepared
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 6 slices bacon, halved
  • 3 Tablespoons brown sugar

In a large bowl, combine cranberry sauce, tomato sauce, beans, mustard, and onion. Place in greased 13x9x2 baking dish. Lay bacon on top, and then sprinkle with brown sugar.

Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

Makes 12-16 servings.

Editors Note: This one really makes me want to use one of my bean pots, since it is a baked bean recipe, after all. The problem is that bean pots have a small opening at the top, and we wouldn't get the full effect of the bacon strips across the top if we bean-potted it. So use the baking dish as instructed. Sigh.

Of course, this is not my favorite baked bean recipe, although it is a good one. Click over to The Best Baked Beans in the World to read about and see the recipe for the absolutely finest baked beans known to man.

Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook: Feasting with your Slow CookerFix-It and Forget-It Cookbook: Feasting with your Slow Cooker
We usually feature bean cookbooks here, but this superb slow cooker (crock pot) cookbook has at least a hundred great bean recipes in it! My wife brought it home and I'm sold on it. The "Bean Main Dishes" section alone has 53 recipes. Recipes are short, simple, tasty, and don't use weird ingredients that you don't already have. And, while I'm excited about the bean recipes (the Sausage Bean Quickie will be the first one we try), the rest of the recipes also look wonderful. The cover says it's a "National #1 bestselling cookbook!" I believe it. Highly recommended by Bean Bible!

Easy Beans: Fast and Delicious Bean, Pea, and Lentil Recipes, Second Editon

No soaking beans, no complex recipes with wild, improbable ingredients. The book lives up to its promise of easy, tasty, fun recipes. Highly recommended by Bean Bible!
